Why Christians Should Pray Everyday

why should christians pray everyday

You have heard people talk about prayer so many times. It could be that you love talking about it. But ever wondered why Christians need to pray every day?

We are told to pray without ceasing and all through the Bible, we see different people praying or talking about prayer.

Even when we look at the life of Jesus, we notice that prayer was a significant part of his ministry. He could wake up in the wee hours of the morning to spend time alone in prayer. Or pray into the deep of the night.

Mark 1:35 Bible Verse

Early in the morning, while it was still dark, he rose up and went out, and departed into a deserted place, and prayed there. Mark 1:35

Why is prayer so important, and why do we need to do it daily?

Prayer Changes Things and Us

All of us wish for change, and the best way to experience change is through prayer. We are here to represent the kingdom of God. That is why the Bible calls us ambassadors. It is through us that God can bring transformation into this world.

But for that to happen, we need to partner with him.  How do we do that? Through spending time in prayer.

When we pray, God shows us the secrets of the kingdom and how to use them to change the world.

Through prayer, he reveals things about us to enable us to change and become the people he wants us to be.

So prayer not only changes things around us, but it also changes us.

2 Corinthians 5:20 Bible Verse

We are therefore ambassadors on behalf of Christ, as though God were entreating by us: we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. 2 Corinthians 5:20

To Communicate With Our Heavenly Father

It is through prayer that we communicate with our heavenly Father, and he teaches us in the way that we should go.

We were not created to be independent. We are supposed to depend on God, and one of the ways that God has ensured this happens is through prayer. When we pray, we admit that we cannot do things independently; we need God to help us. It is a way of us saying that we cannot, but God can.

Prayer Is an Act of obedience

When parents tell us to do things, we do without questioning them. Okay, at least that is how it was in the past. Parents had the final say as long as you lived under their roof.

Now, we are told in the Bible to pray with all kinds of prayer.

with all prayer and requests, praying at all times in the Spirit, and being watchful to this end in all perseverance and requests for all the saints: Ephesians 6:18

Prayer is a system that our Father has put in place so that we can communicate with Him. As Children of God, we need to always walk in obedience. So when we pray, we are actually following God’s system of communication.

All in all

We need to be imitators of Christ.  If he prayed every day, it is essential for us to also do the same.

Prayer is an act of obedience, and it is also through prayer that our lives are transformed, and we are able to enjoy the great things of the kingdom. As beloved children of God, we should not take prayers for granted.

Instead, we should always strive to pray even when we do not feel like it, and our heavenly Father will bless us.
